DE VUELTA EN NUESTRO BUENOS AIRES QUERIDO!

The rainy day which saw our arrival in Buenos Aires, was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DAY OF THIS YEAR! The air was so humid, the green was so juicy and all was smelling home!

Victor had to ´break into ´our own house, as the keys were left in the premisses... It was not the first time he had to climb up the gates. Tango dancers are trained to do any sort of physical challanges...

The first inspection concerned the lemon tree- our true companion and the witness of so many jolly gathering around asado or tango.. We were not deceived: the tree had plenty of yellow lemons, green lemons and.. blossoms at the same time!

As we were admiring the plants around, the only ramaining inhabitant of the house showed up: MALENA has survived our long absence one more time! And she was not playing offended this time! Still in her long winter coat, made us realize that.. THE SPRING HAS NOT ARRIVED YET!

And what else were we missing while away from home?

Of course our rituals of asado ( with the best argentinean meat in the world), warm nights out, sipping the BEST WINES while Victor was playing a maestro de asado.. The lemons are not entirely ready yet, but the times of our arrival home is the TIME OF LIMONCELLO PRODUCTION!

Anyway, as long as the lemon tree is there and the yellow lemons are shining even in the night ( Victor´s trick) there are tango and non-tango reunions, asados, dinner parties and other kind of orgies...

Those magic spring-summer Buenos Aires nights inspire a good havana cigar in a good company of friends. I will not miss the opportunities this time either. Somebody in Buenos Aires will have one cigar for me!

When the warm summer rains flood Buenos Aires, it is a wanderful opportunity to have a good ol´fondu with tango friends, inside the studio...

The time back is also the time to play guardian angels in Buenos Aires and accompany our european students-visitors in exploring of the jungle of Buenos Aires. We acccompany them not only to milongas, but weird places, like Casino..

There is a world away from civilisation and close to Buenos Aires- The DELTA OF PARANA! There we can always escape from metropolitan life. And sometimes we take our students and friends on our boat with us! Everything is possible in a spring and summer in the southern hemisphere!

Hey Aisha, Victor,
how are you?
is the european tournee over?
back to T-bone steaks after digesting the frikandel?
Here it's more or less all the same (including the lousy weather).
I'm looking forward to start tango lessons again...
Take care
Pasquale

yes, I ´ve read your blog, and alas the SILL of the south was better than our herring from last year! Could it be true??today it´s too hot, +30 degrees centigrade so Vile and I have stayed inside all day, me sipping the only beer that should be served chilled. You guess what1
I whish you a fine trip to the east and we´ll see each other soon!
SvenE

My dear Aisha, YOU WERE SO RIGHT....
You still remember me :) I didn't forget you either. YOU are unforgettable, you know it As for the picture - I saw it as I read your blog :) Only half-a-day reunion? It's not enough, is it? Probably you have an overbooked schedule, which is always good. So your tour is a success? Who would have doubted... Your decision to stay out of Eastern Europe was reasonable... Still I hope to see you someday in my country, my homeland...

I've been here, in my homeland, for 2 weeks already...And so far it has been terrible...
Everything seems wrong to me in this country, in this culture, in this house, in my family..NOTHING moves on. It's a bog of stagnation. I changed a lot during that year, especially during the summer when I actually wasn't studying but working and living on my own. I made lots of friends, I had a VERY good time ( even when it was bad it was still worth living through). Now, here I feel being suffocated... YOU WERE SO RIGHT!!! About not seeing how bad it is untill you get out of there and see something else. No, I didn't fall in love with America. NO way, I still do not particularly like the culture... but at least there I had a chance to be something or nothing - up to me... Here I feel I have to struggle through everyday... Everything is very unstable, no money, no perspective ( not the kind I 'd like to have). ....
I resumed my studies in the university...but I am not motivated to study AT ALL...
My family continues to be a mess...
I have hard time finding at least some kind of job...
Plus I am still readapting: the weather is colder, I am freezing all the time; the food doesn't taste the same; I feel very tense and uncomfortable all the time.
I feel I DO NOT FIT here...at all
Sorry, I cannot write in this tone anymore... I will write when I feel more positive next time...( or when I have connection to the web)...This speed of my dial-up does not even allow me to send one small picture ( gets disconnected right away)...
Hope you are MUCH-MUCH better than I am...
MIss you a lot, would love to see you ...
HUGS,
your miserable cousin
P.S. I will write you a more coherent letter when I get back to a more happy SELF, ok?

A foto of moose I got from Gun and Uno and is from their Moose Restaurant!
Thanks for the lessons (and dance) It has been a marvelous time for me!/SvenE

Hallo Aisha and Victor! So good to hear from you! It was a pleasure to meet you both! I wish Icould have spent more time with you and gotten to know you better. Iwould have met up with you last Wednesday at Club Carlito if I had only
known that you were going to be there! However, I was not informed :'
I was not inthe mood to just go and see what dancers were at Club Carlito. I simply do not have so much fun dancing with anyone anymore. At present I haveno regular dance partner to bring, so I stayed home and rested instead.
The funny photos you want I want too! As I recall they were taken by Alex with his camera. I have not gotten them. Let us see if I can get hold of them. If I do I will with pleasure share them with you!No, I have not seen your report in Tangoportalen :-( . I tried to locate it just now but could not find it. Can you please send me the link?Lots of hugs to you,
Your friend Rolf

Hi Aisha, Victor!!
I was just reading your blog today for the first time since you've been here, and was just wondering what macanudo means...In the meantime I've read the english translation. Thanks for all the compliments (mhhh...I'll take the female and the germanic aspectsof my character as compliments as well, although I do feel 100% male and 200% italian).
Also thanks from Fritz (he had never been on the internet so far!!).
By the way, I've seen the picture of your latest dwelling. A hut on a river!! Not bad at all!It must have been very quiet and restful (in the few hours left over from the workshopsof course). It looked really a very nice place. And of course, good for Victor's daily jogging, I suppose (Victor, you make me feelguilty and lazy: I should also do that, at least weekly).
OK, it's time for me to go to bed now, otherwise the other ghost who's writing e-mails in the attic right now, will be a zombie at work tomorrow!
Keep in touch Pasquale

KITO

Hola Aisha, Hola Victor!

Speaking of snow!Buenos Aires woke up in snow this morning! For the first time since 1918.Vile is barking at your memory!/SvenE

I will arise and go now,
And go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there,
Of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean rows will I have there,
A hive for the honey bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there,

For peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning
To where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer,
And noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.

I will arise and go now,
For always night and day
I hear lake water lapping
With low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway
Or on the pavements gray,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.

EL POETA DE VIAJES Y REGRESOS

Barcelona, Madrid, Puente Saavedra,

los ríos, las montañas y los bares;

“no habrá ninguno igual, no habrá ninguno”

THE ALPS AGAIN-SWIZERLAND!!!

Swizerland has welcomed us with all its natural glamour- all of it bathed in the sun. We can hardly see the autumn approaching; mabe for the few colourful dead leaves now and then... The weather was spleandid from the beginning and we had easily forgotten the last 2 days of the entrance into the winter weather in Sweden.

Familiar and friendly face of Pierre Olivier picking us up from the trains station in Sierre / by the way, the 2 hour journey from the airport in Geneve to Sierre by train was a spectacular exposure of all the Swiss beauty. The Alps, the vineyards on the slopes, spectacular work of terraces, picturesque villages, towers of churches sticking out of the green, castles and fortrecess on the top of the hills or inaccessible rocks- all of this passing like in a caleidoscop in front of our eyes!/
It is not our first time in Swizerland and not the first one in Sierre. But you have to be blind not to be impressed by the surrounding beauty!

We realize that Swizerland is a favourite posh holiday destination for the most priviledged on this planet. And Aisha & Victor!

We got our love nest in the most romantic attic apartment with a breathtaking view on the Alps from the skylight windows. Pierre Olivier and Francoise know how to spoil us from the start...
For the incredulous ones: the photo above was taken from the window and it is not even half as splendid as the real panorama.

And it is not only delights for the eyes. From the first dinner in the restaurant to the last visit in a local bodega, our stay in Sierre was a neverending challange for our palates.
The list is probably hard to mention without forgetting something, but from the moment I had my favourite MOCCA YOGHURT for breakfast, I knew I am in Sierre, in Swizerland ( this kind of yoghurt is nowhere to be found apart from here)!

Welcome dinner was held in a little charming Italian restaurant, where I got a proof that Alps moutons ( with rosmary or with champignons) were as delicous as the famous Patagonic ones. But it was only an entrance to the royame of delights in VALAIS...

Next day, after the workshops, we had a busy programme: but the MUST was a participation in the WINE DEGUSTATION, annual event called VINEA!

The best commentaries we get from Victor ( see his Spanish seccion of ATTENTION SWISS!)

But in a couple of words the event was a huge Bachus feast which filled the main street of Sierre with stands of winery owners offering their specialities to the visiting crowds.
Careful as we are with wine tasting before our evening tango show, we could not resist but try a dozen of examples of Sirah, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cornalin, etc
Siesta was an obligation afterwards, bien sur!

The organizers have found a charming dancing room in the nearby locality called Luc. Under the banner "milonga en famille" we had a lot of fun and dancing with our students and friends we have met during last year s festival and new ones, of course. The adventages: we were not anonymous artists anymore, but the friends to have a nice chat and a glass of wine mixed with a tango or vals.

In one word: it was a super reunion of friends and tango lovers in the Alpine context!

On the foto: the elegant ambiance of the last year s tango festival in Sierre in the dancing room of Hotel de Ville.

Next day, after the workshops, was very memorable too. We had a RACLETTE CEREMONY! It was held in Pierrol & Francoise apartment ( view on the Alps from the glassed wall, as a visual delight). Who has ever been to Swizerland and have not tried raclette, has not completed the swiss mission!
It is a ritual like argentinean asado, with a master of a ceremony taking care of every bit of served pieces of hot cheese. I wanted mine more golden brown, and it was how I got it! Indispensable wine-should be white, but on our request we had those marvellous red liquids from Valais!
If one see sees a huge piece of over 2kg of cheese cannot imagine that nothing will rest from it after the Sunday dinner.
WE were 7 altogether, both of us, Pierrol & Francois, our dear students Madalaine, Francoise and Patrice.
Full of cheese and wine, we had only one desire: DIGESTIVE URGENTLY! Nothing serves better as a digestive after raclette as a WILLIAMI, pear liqueur, my DEFINITE NUMBER 1!
But we have not finished there... Pierrol brought another bottle to taste. It was a tipical MYRLI. As we were enthusiastical about the contect, we got a bottle as a present. It will be taken and drunk in Buenos Aires for our WELCOME BACK PARTY. Obviously, we will not share too much of this delicacy.

There we go with key words in the Suiss world of tastes: Mocca, raclette, Wiliami, Myrli and the endless list of Pinot Noir, Sirah...

Monday was a day of rest, relax and filling our eyes and stomachs with the beauty of Valais.
Pierrol & Francois have decided to take us for a trip through the mountains covered with vineyard to SION. Each 10 minutes we were exclaiming our WOWs! and asking Pierrol to stop the car in order to take in and immortalize the sights in front of our eyes. The the most prototipical tourists..

We have visited the OLD TOWN of Sion ( not missing the important spot where Sierre dancers have their tango demonstrations), climbing up the VALERE hill up to the cathedral.

Our group, brave enough to reach the top of the hill, drew attention of the TV crew and we were interviewed. There is always an opportunity to talk about tango. Whether tango dancers from Buenos Aires are interested in historical museum of Valais? Why not, if it is a good spot for tango dancing, definitely YES! ( watch us in ECO DECODE)

For the tango dancers everything and everywhere is applicable to tango activities.

The best example of it was yet to come. From Sion, we transferred to VAREN, a german speaking locality of wine producers. There, we had our last WINE DESGUSTATION followed by the detailed guided tour in the CAVE DE CHEVALIER BAYARD! Little exclusive bodega, run by the family, is a real jewel of wine making. Apart from hi tech hidden from the customers eyes, the big dining room-restaurant is equiped with huge wooden tables and stoned arches in the wall. WHAT A PERFECT AMBIENCE FOR TANGO, we exclaimed! Apart from that, what a perfect combination, TANGO AND WINE! It was only a question of minutes when Pierrol closed the agreement with the cave owner to held a tango presentation there! We are looking forward to TANGO IN THE WINERY!

Friendly ambience and sharing wine, cheeses and prosciutto around the table was part of swiss hospitaliy.

All the ladies ( that is me, Francoise and Jacqline) were adorned with berets with inscription of the name of the winery, and our chevaliers ( Victor, Pierrol, Josy) got the winery T shirts. Next step was a restaurant, in spite of our protests of impossibility of further eating. A nice, italian restaurant was also our good-bye meal with our tango friends. Next day we only had to take one of those fantastic swiss trains and after over 1 hour of caleidoscopic panorama of the Alps and Lac Leman, we arrived to our next station: Lausanne! The second portion of Swiss is coming up soon!
